Make the most of the Lake District summers in the secluded beer garden, away from the main roads so you don't have to take in the exhaust fumes will you relax with your drink.
We have a range of games available, from old favourites such as darts, dominos and playing cards, and board games for young and old. If you prefer your entertainment electronic there are a couple of games machines.
We don't serve any meals. But we understand that many people like to have a little nibble with their pint so we do have a good range of hand-cooked Fiddler's Lancashire Crisps: sea salt, sea salt & Ellsey's malt vinegar, creamy Lancashire cheese and onion, Lancashire sweet chilli, Lancashire Sauce, and Lancashire black pudding and English mustard. There is also a selection of nuts, chocolate, and pork scratchings.
We also have our famous pork pies and scotch eggs, served with fiery English mustard; extremely popular so be quick or they'll all be gone!
During the winter (Which can extend from September to May!) the main bar is warmed with the glow of an open fire. Don't worry though, the rest of the pub is heated as well so you won't freeze if the main room is full.
Just because the Rule is a traditional pub, it doesn't mean we are stuck in the past. We offer free wireless internet access to all our customers, so bring along your laptop and check your email whilst enjoying a beer.
Two of our rooms can be booked for small meetings; the 'back room' is suitable for abouta dozen people, whilst the 'bottom room' can take around twenty. The rooms are well used by many organisations and societies. To check availability or to make a booking, get in touch with us.
Smokers & Electronic Cigarettes
Smokers don't need to be left out in the cold! Our substantial covered and heated smoking area ensures that you don't need to get cold and wet. Some people have been known to stay out there all night.
We do not allow the use of electronic cigarettes within the pub.
A couple of newspapers are provided daily so you can catch up on the days news (or the celebrity gossip if you prefer). There is also a varied selection of magazines and books available around the pub for you to take advantage of.
