The Golden Rule, tucked away off the main road in Ambleside, is a traditional and unchanging multi-roomed pub in the heart of The Lake District with a reputation that spreads around the world.
Ever popular with varied mix of local residents, visitors from near and far, the young and old, walkers, climbers, mountain bikers, artists and writers, the Rule is just the place to have a drink and a chat. No 'background' music to shout over, no meals, no noisy games machines and no big screen TV flickering away in the corner.
Your landlord and lady, John and Margret Lockley, have been welcoming people to the Golden Rule since April 1981 (the 9th if anyone wants to send a card), and they along with all the pub staff look forward to welcoming you to the Rule.
The Golden Rule, the hidden gem of Ambleside, well worth visiting again and again.
